"BREAK ON THROUGH"
words and music by The Doors
The guitarist in my old band worked this out with me one jam session
when we were trying to cover it. It is one of the easier solos of Ray
Manzarek to transfer to guitar because it is played on the regular
organ. Just add a bit of reverberation and chorus. It also sounds ok
on acoustic guitars.

solo
this solo really kicks. the opening riff was borrowed by
pearl jam and can also be seenin the "alive" solo. Mike
Mccready just moved the riff down on the fretboard
(to start on E).
it is in an Am pentatonic
the start is

the rest is just playing around with that scale
then back to riff 1
your ballroom days are over baby

you walk across the floor
with a flower in your hand
trying to tell me no one understand
trading your dollars for a hand full of dimes

For the 'Hello I love you...' parts, strike the bass note twice prior to
strumming the chords on A and G. For A it would be the 5th string, for G it
would be the sixth string third fret. Here's what it would look like tabbed:

Love Street (By: The Doors)
Intro: Am G Gm F
Am G
She lives on Love Street,
Gm F
lingers long on Love Street.
Am G
She has a house and garden,
Gm F
I would like to see what happens.
Am F
She has robes and she has monkeys,
Gm F
lazy diamond studded flunkies.
Gm Am Bb Fmaj
She has wisdom and knows what to do,
Gm Fmaj Bb A7
she has me and she has you.
(spoken words with chords)
I see you live on Love Street,
there's a store where the creatures meet.
I wonder what they do in there,
summer sunday and a year.
I guess I like it fine so far.
