   Стандартная длина: длина головы и тела рыбы без учёта хвоста. Ср.: полная длина.
   Субстрат для икрометания: вещество, на которое или в которое рыбы откладывают икру; обычно имеются в виду материалы, специально подобранные для этой цели аквариумистом.
   Сумеречный: активный во время сумеречных периодов (рассвет и сумерки).
   Таксон: любое подразделение животного или растительного царства.
   Таксономия: классификация живых (и вымерших) организмов. См. также главу 2.
   Тактильный: осязательный.
   Травоядное (о животных): животное (в том числе рыба), которое питается растительным веществом.
   Трематоды: тип паразитов.
   Триноминальная система: система названий, применяемая к представителям животного царства.

   Фотопериод: период (в пределах суток), во время которого присутствует свет.
   Хвостовой стебель: основание хвоста.
   Хелатирование: химические метод «запирания» ионов металлов, который применяется в некоторых способах обработки воды.
   Хозяин: организм, на котором или в котором живёт паразит.
   Хроматофор: пигментная клетка.
   Хронический (о болезни): длительный, протекающий в течение долгого периода времени. Ср.: острый.
